Rental Terms & Conditions
1. DRIVING LICENCE
Hold a driving license for more than 1 year or be 18 years old or over.
2. PRICES AND VAT
Prices and VAT may be changed without prior notice.
3. PAYMENT
The cost of the rental and all expenses must be paid at the beginning of the rental.
4. FRANCHISE / DEPOSITS
We accept the franchise guarantee in non-exempt cases, via credit card, this amount will be refunded upon delivery of the vehicle, and it cannot present any damage.
Group A – €750
SCDW – Super CDW Collision Damage Waiver
This insurance covers damage (collision) and possible theft of the rented vehicle. Does not cover tires, rims, roof, keys and vehicle interior. SCDW reduces costs if the customer is at fault in an accident, presenting the following values: €0 for classes A, €100.
5. TICKETS
All traffic fines incurred during the rental period are the sole responsibility of the customer.
6. CAR RETURN
The rental period is 24 hours.
If this period is not met, the client will be charged an overtime fee. There will be no refund of the rental contract if the customer returns the vehicle earlier than previously agreed with the company.
7. INSURANCE EXCLUSION
It is expressly prohibited to drive under the influence of alcohol or narcotics and failure to comply with these rules will be considered a violation of the agreement established with your insurance policy. Damage caused by the use/consumption of tobacco in the vehicle will be considered negligence and is not covered by the insurance policy, even if SCDW insurance has been paid.
8. FUEL
The vehicle must be returned with the same amount of fuel supplied. There is the option of Pre-Paid Fuel, which varies depending on the brand of car, and the vehicle can be returned with fuel in reserve. (Prices can vary between €70 and €100, depending on the brand and type of fuel)
9. VEHICLE DELIVERIES / RETRIEVAL OUTSIDE OF SERVICE HOURS
Delivery and pick-up at the airport incur a fee of €25.00. An additional out-of-hours fee of €40.00 applies between midnight and 8 am. However, within Funchal, delivery and retrieval are free throughout the rental period.
10. DELIVERIES TO HOTEL
There are no additional fees island-wide for deliveries to hotels.
11. EXTRAS
Baby seats – €5.00 per day
Children’s chairs – €5.00 per day
GPS – €5.00 per day
Additional second driver (<25 years) – €10.00 per day
12. SPEED LIMITS
The speed limit in the localities, unless there is any sign to the contrary, is 50 km/hour. Speed limits outside localities are 80 km/hour, in the absence of any sign to the contrary.
13. RECOMMENDATIONS
If you wish to extend the rental period, you must communicate at least 24 hours in advance, it will only be extended subject to vehicle availability. Due to the high demand in special seasons, summer and New Year’s Eve, the entire car park is often occupied, therefore, it is recommended that for these seasons the reservation is made as far in advance as possible.
